FRACTAL DISASTER!!

JSS Relativitet lost with all hands in fractal bubble!

Stormdale -
Disaster struck the Jageran Fractal Research Program yesterday, as all contact was lost with the science vessel JSS Relativitet and its escorts. The Relativitet has been conducting research in a fractal bubble when the bubble apparently collapsed, causing everything which existed within it to cease to exist.

"Unfortunately, we knew this was going to happen, but there was nothing we could do about it," stated Dr. Xavier Therigen, chief of Fractal Research. "Not long after they entered the bubble, the Relativitet crew detected an instability in their reality that would soon destroy it. Because of the nature of fractal space, the ship was unable to return to our reality, and could only open fractal wormholes long enough to send short data bursts back. When the ship failed to make a scheduled check-in on Monday, we feared the worst. We were able to send a message through ourselves yesterday, but we couldn't even open a wormhole, meaning that reality no longer exists."

According to Dr. Therigen, this instability has now been found to be an inherent problem with fractal bubbles. "The one piece of research the Relativitet was able to send back was on the nature of fractal bubbles. We call them bubbles because they are not full universes; in fact many are just reflections of a small area around the physical space from which they are reached. The name 'bubble' has turned out to be unfortunately apt, as they do burst from time to time. With the unstable nature of spacetime in this bubble, reflected by the faster flow of time, it was unfortunately prone to breaking, which led to the loss of the brave scientists and crew abord the science vessel and its escorts."

Along with the Relativitet, the destroyer JWS Misaand frigates JWS Pil and Näve had entered the bubble, and were lost as well.

Current reports indicate the fractal research program will continue, but several other exploratory missions to bubbles have been canceled in the wake of this disaster. A public memorial will be held July 12 at 2pm at the Stormdale Territorial Assembly.
