New Aircraft Carriers Launch

Colisin - Spirits ran high today as the two newest aircraft carriers destined for the Jageran Fleet were launched. The new fleet carrier Veðrfölnir and light carrier Angela sailed into the waters of Colisin harbour for the first time, accompanied by the cheers of the crowd.

The Angela's namesake, Bevakare Angela, was on hand to witness the festivities. "It's overwhelming to know such a vessel has been named specifically after me. I cannot find the words to express the honour I feel right now."

According to Freyr Larssen, head of shipbuilder Larssen Våpenverk's naval division, "These two vessels embody the epitome of Jageran naval technology and power. As the newest vessels of their classes, they will help Jagera make herself felt throughout the world. Not to mention it shows our industriousness, as we finished the Veðrfölnir a month ahead of schedule. And if they win us a few more contracts, well, that wouldn't be so bad, either. "

The ships are slated to remain in harbour for the next week for final touchups, before
setting out for a three week shakedown cruise and returning to Colisin in mid-August for their commissioning ceremonies.

Following the arrival of the JFB Bonaventure in Colisin harbour, along with consultations with Jontadain admirals on the utility of the vessels, a decision was made to indefinitely postpone the construction of similar vessels for the Jageran navy. According to analysts, these vessels "put too many eggs in one basket", and the use of two separate fleet carriers and a heavy cruiser would be more efficient than putting the three ships together into a single floating fortress.

Accordingly, the two lead ships of the floating fortress project, JAS Jotunheim and Vanaheim, have been reslated for construction as Yggdrasil-Class Fleet Carriers instead. No word on when the final decision to go ahead or cancel will be made.
